Dance is a great means to develop children's imagination and creativity through play and enjoyment as well as to establish contact with themselves, their senses, sensations, emotions, and deepest thoughts. Dance allows them to develop empathy and communicate with others and their world.

Danza en mi Comunidad (Dance in my community) is an artistic-cultural program aimed at children from marginalized communities in Oaxaca. It aims at bringing children closer to their cultural roots and promoting awareness of Zapotec legends and traditional Oaxacan dances as well as performing fun activities and using their bodies as language to communicate. It was created in 2016 by its current director, dance artist and cultural promoter, Rosario Ordóñez Fuentes.
